Secret Life of a Museum Worker 2
The Estonian Open Air Museum's team is so large that it's difficult to meet all colleagues even in a work setting, let alone get a sense of what they do outside of their daily duties—what their hobbies and talents are. Our people are spread out both here in the forest and in Tallinn's Old Town.
This current exhibition is a sequel to the one displayed last year. The idea to create an exhibition showcasing the creativity of museum employees was born in the spring of 2024. The first exhibition brought pleasant surprises and revealed that the circle of creative individuals is much wider than initially expected. Our main sources of inspiration are nature and architecture, but this time we've also included a few small twists in both theme and technique. While last year's exhibition required all works to be wall-hung, this year we are also displaying some ceramics and metalwork in a vitrine.
Museum work demands creativity, a keen eye, and skillful hands—especially in the case of our conservators, many of whom are participating in large numbers this year. The exhibition features both professionals and hobby artists, and we have even included a colleague for whom this is a very first creative attempt.
