Food and drink

Kolu Inn is an authentic 19th-century road inn that is situated in the open air museum. In the inn you can taste delicious Estonian homey food, and on holidays the menu features traditional festive dishes. Like in old days, the inn still serves as a place to find out latest news, strike a deal or celebrate. This is a fine place for business lunches and receptions as well as conferences, concerts or theatre performances. It can host weddings, birthdays or different types of celebrations.

See our lunch and dinner menu.

On the birthday of the Republic of Estonia, February 24, we invite you to visit us and offer a special festive menu. Sandwich cake with salted herring, glazed salmon with potatoes and dill butter, layered bread treat with curds and blackcurrant jam.

The party atmosphere will be created by concerts by the Leigarid children's group and the Nõmme Heritage School at 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. Information for the entire day can be found here.

The Estonian Open Air Museum and Kolu Tavern will participate in the first-ever Tallinn KukliFest (Bun Festival) from 14.02 to 04.03. The food festival organized by Visit Tallinn highlights Shrovetide traditions and Tallinn's world-class café culture. Kolu tavern Shrovetide buns with real whipped cream and lingonberry jam are delicious!
Before whipped cream buns came to be, buckwheat flour pancakes and Shrovetide plinis were prepared as Shrovetide foods. We invite you to taste buckwheat flour pancakes with ice cream, prepared according to ancient traditions, throughout KukliFest.

The Shrovetide menu for March 2-4 also includes:

  • pea soup, made with smoked pork and served with plenty of herbs;
  • Mulgi porridge;
  • pork feet with vegetable stew.
