Stories of Light in the Dark: When Legends Shine
Stories of Light in the Dark: When Legends
Shine
30.01–01.02.2026
For three evenings in a row, the Estonian Open Air Museum will host light installations created by students of the Estonian Academy of Arts. The opening will take place on Friday, 30 January, at 19:00.
What happens when a legend meets light? When stories passed from mouth to mouth across generations take on a new form in the darkness?
“Stories of Light in the Dark” is an exhibition and show born out of a special
project and created by students of the Estonian Academy of Arts under the
guidance of Elo Liiv. Museum visitors will see lighting concepts inspired by
folklore, which reveal their full beauty precisely on dusky, dark days.
The magic unfolds as darkness falls.
Together, light, shadow, and silence will create a space at the Estonian Open
Air Museum where visitors can slow down, observe, and experience with all their
senses.
Participating students: Lume Tuum, Anastasia Nikiforova, Aivi Kukk, Triin Taberland, Hendra
Raud, Kulla Kroon, Karl Markus Gauk, Helery Riidak, Auguste Radzeviciute,
Nikita Oleinik, Eliis Kurvits, Rasmus Puksmann, Melani Telliskivi.
The event is supported by the Eesti
Kultuurkapital (“Cultural Endowment of Estonia”).
We recommend arriving at the museum at dusk, between 17:00 and 20:00.
