Onion and fish day and Seto Michaelmas Day
How could one possibly not mark with honor the end of the autumn fieldwork and grazing season? At the Onion and Fish Day of the borderlands, you are awaited by celebrations of the harvest festival of the Seto people and the Russian Old Believers.
Both peoples are famed as skilled farmers and fishermen, so at the fair visitors will be able to buy the finest Lake Peipus onions, all sorts of fish, and more. In the Old Believer’s house from the Peipus area at the Estonian Open Air Museum, as well as at the Seto farmstead, one can explore the culinary traditions and crafts of the people of Peipus and the Seto community.

Winter season at the Open Air Museum
The wintertime Open Air Museum enchants with its tranquil rhythm of life and homely warmth. While strolling through the historic village in the coastal forest, you may step indoors to escape the chill, and chat leisurely with the hostess about the way of life in the olden days.

Traditional Seto patterns by Anna Kõivo
At the age of 88, Kõivo Anne created the current exhibition
of hammõkirät – the sleeve patterns of Seto women’s shirts. The shirt is
one of the most striking garments in a Seto woman’s attire.

Children’s Sunday Matinees on March 15
On four Sundays in March before 12:00, children’s matinees lasting about
40 minutes will take place in the banquet hall (the stable) of the Kolu Tavern.
Each Sunday will feature performances by different children’s singing and dance
groups.
