Weave yourself into the history!
12 April, 2017 - 31 January, 2018
Estonian Open Air Museum with all of Estonians is weaving a 100-meter long genuine rag carpet for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. The colors and patterns of the carpet symbolize all of Estonian 107 historical parishes.
‘’Let’s weave Estonian people into history’’ is a call for every grown up and kid alike who would like to give their contribution to the making of the historical rag carpet. From the 12th of April there is rag carpet material and pattern description from artists Anu Raud and Ene Pars ready at Kolu Inn of the Estonian Open Air Museum. We weave ourselves into history to hold and appreciate our country and culture.
What can be a better gift for the Republic of Estonia than an honest rag carpet that has been made together with thousands of people.
We welcome everyone to the Estonian Open Air Museum to weave of few rows on a loom! The more participants we have, the lovelier carpet we get.
Everyone’s contribution is golden.
Come! Let’s weave our warm wishes, thoughts and feelings into the common history.
Time hides a story!
Weaving a rag carpet started on the 12th of April 2017 and ends when 100 meters is finished but the latest on the 31st of January 2018. After that we touch up the carpet in order to hand it ceremonially over to the Office of the President of the Republic of Estonia in February 2018.
Weaving a rag carpet with museum admission. Free entrance to the museum on the 29th of September 2017.
